If there is no god, does morality hinder our evolving?

Even if there is something after this life, the two have absolutely no interaction. Therefore, we should not concern ourselves with this "afterlife." We are here to evolve, each person exists to further the technological and societal advancements. Morals are the manifestation of each person's desire to see their race advance to it's full potential. Each person wants to see their standard of life get better and wants to see how awesome their own race is. Those serial killers and rapists are completely self centered, caring only for their own well being.
