What inherently is wrong with ''power to the people'' wasn't that the founders' ideals anyways?

I would say that you need to study your history more. The intention of the founders was NOT to empower the people. Their intention was to give them SOME power. If their intention had been empowerment, white male property owners would not have been the only ones to vote at first. Remember, sufferage has been steadily granted to people over time. In my view it has gone TOO far. Mob rule is just as harmful, if not more, than tyranny and oppression. The Founding Fathers never envisioned a world as complex as our own. Even with their agricultural world they limited voting power to those who they saw as best qualified or deserving of power.
