WHY CAN'T EVOLUTIONISTS ANSWER MY QUESTION?

I cannot hold my breathe under water for an hour at a time (like a whale), I cannot fly over the Atlantic ocean (like a bird), I cannot run on water (like a Jesus christ Lizard), I cannot run 70 mph (like a cheetah), etc. etc. etc. - You would think that if we evolved from that muddy little pond into what we are today, that we would have been smart enough to keep some of those wonderful traits like an ability to fly, run fast, etc. --- But no, we are so moronic that we would rather evolve into the boneheads that we are, which forces us to have to create scuba gear (to swim under water), create planes (to fly in the sky), create boats (to travel upon the water), create sports cars (so we can go fast), etc. etc. etc. - After billions of years of going through evolutionary phases, we have surely had some of aforementioned traits available to us at some time or another (since we did come from the water...and from monkeys...and whatnot) ...right? So why are we so darn stupid to reverse the process via technology...only to try and regain those traits that we already had previously? Are we really that dense? Or is it possible that everything was DESIGNED with its own special traits ... some we have ... some we don't???
