The mini Rose Plant, can it be planted just like a regular big rose plant and be left....?

outside thru the winter and expect it to come back that next summer as long as I protect it by covering it with a styrofoam cooler or plant pot or wrap it with burlap, or is the mini for indoors only, I brought it indoors and after all the buds fell off, it started growing new green growth really nice, so I thought it was gonna be okay but then now all the green growths have dried off and all that's left are the green sticks, oh yeah the green growth came after I trimmed back the tops after the buds fell off, but now it seems like it's dying, I haven't fed it any miraclegro lately, so I was thinking about starting that again with it, is it a loss cause? or is there something I can do to save it? or should I have just left it outside and covered it? Help! Thanks In Advance!.....
