I am being evicted for non-payment of rent. How can I fight it?

I was the victim of a burglary. The thief stole my rent money, the pouch which carried the money was later found at a soccer field near my house and returned to me, without the money, by a police officer. I explained this to my landlord and was able to raise $700.00 of the $1195.00 rent. I sent the $700 in money orders, but my manager sent it back stating it did not represent the full amount and then served me the unlawful detainer. Due to starting a new job, I was unable to timely file the answer and I now have a kick out date of 4/5. I am desperate, what can be done at this point?
